Tree of Dreams

Tree of Dreams

During the holidays, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Christmas Tree is adorned with hundreds of ornaments, handmade by the DCC they represent. The inception of the tree was in December of 1995. What is now a sentimental nod to the young women that make up each squad, started with the unfortunate fire that burned Judy Trammell’s home. Each year, Judy opened her home to host the annual Christmas party, for food, games and gift exchange. That year, the squad decided instead of drawing names for the exchange, they would  “draw” Judy’s name. Each DCC presented Judy with different items to help her family get through the holidays and an ornament to hang on the tree. The DCC Christmas Tree was born with 34 ornaments, symbolizing each squad member’s life and DCC experiences . The tradition continues today, as each Rookie class creates personalized ornaments to be included on the tree. One other ornament adorns the tree that represents the past. World famous designer, Christopher Radko, was commissioned to create an ornament for DCC in honor of the Spirit of DCC – the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Alumni.

In 2016, a tree skirt was designed by DCC Alumni Brooke Wicker Alexander and Michele Taylor Sharp. Inspired by the DCC uniform, it is made of the same white, double knit polyester featuring crystal stars around the edge, reflecting the design of the belt, and a silver buckle.  White fringe trims the skirt, and rhinestone buttons from the blouse are sprinkled throughout.  The underside of the skirt is made from the royal blue blouse fabric worn by the DCC. Presented by Brooke at the 2016 Christmas party, the skirt is inscribed “In honor of our 10th Anniversary… Merry Christmas!  The Spirit of DCC 2006-2016”. The skirt was expertly crafted by the DCC seamstress, Lisa Dobson. The Spirit of DCC handles the yearly project of decorating the 12′ tall tree. At first, displayed in the DCC studio at Valley Ranch, and now, beautifully inside the DCC locker room at AT&T Stadium. The DCC, and all who tour our locker room are able to enjoy the tree throughout the holiday season.

Season’s Greetings & Merry Christmas, from our DCC family to yours!
