What is the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders program?

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) program is a part-time, hourly employment position that provides team members the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally through a unique platform that offers media visibility, travel experiences, unique perks and benefits, as well as once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to work with top choreographers and perform on world-class stages.

What are the commitments required of a DCC?

Upon a candidate receiving an invitation to Training Camp and ultimate selection to the final team, the required program commitments are performing at approximately 10 home games and 3-4 rehearsals a week between 2-3 hours per rehearsal in late July through the end of the Dallas Cowboys football season. Rehearsals are held in the evenings to best accommodate primary or other part-time employment or enrollment in an educational institution. All other appearances and relevant rehearsals are paid opportunities and are optional for each DCC.

 

Candidates who are not able to meet the audition or minimum program requirements should not apply.

What is the term for DCC employment?

Employment begins at the start of DCC Training Camp for all eligible candidates, including re-auditioning veterans invited to Training Camp. The employment term ends at the time of release from the team during Training Camp or ends prior to Final Auditions the following year.

How do I become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (DCC)?

DCC candidates must apply during the annual online Audition window. Candidates will then be notified if they advance to future rounds.

Final Round Auditions are held in-person in Frisco, Texas. Candidates must complete their Final Audition in person to be considered for the team. Candidates will be invited to attend DCC Training Camp based on the outcome of their Final Audition.

 

If a candidate cannot attend the Final Audition at the team facility and Training Camp, then they should not audition.

What is the DCC Audition process?

There are 4 rounds of DCC auditions:

1. Online First Round

2. Online or In-Person Second Round

3. In-Person Finals

4. In-Person Training Camp

 

DCC Candidates must apply online and will be notified of their advancement to future rounds of the audition process via email.

What will I submit for the online First Round of Auditions?

Two Photos: 1 Headshot and 1 Full Length Photo

Two Videos: 20 sec. intro and 60 sec. freestyle dance

How are DCC Audition applications evaluated?

Judges’ evaluations are based on the following:

o Dance Technique

o High Kicks

o Splits

o Showmanship

o Appearance

o Energy

o Enthusiasm

o Poise

o Personality

Are there any height and weight requirements?

There are no height or weight requirements.

Are there any age requirements?

You must be at least 18 by the time of the First Round of Auditions.

If I am currently a high school senior, but will not graduate prior to the first round, can I still audition and be selected for training camp?

If you meet the minimum age requirement of 18 by the First Round of Auditions, then you may audition.

Are there certain dance moves that I must do at Auditions?

First Round Audition: Freestyle dance should be dynamic jazz and highlight the candidate’s technical best.

Second Round Audition pom choreography differs each year. Candidates can expect a pirouette to be included. Please note: Confidence is a competitive performance quality for all candidates. Exercise great posture with strong, controlled movements and of course, smile! The traditional kickline choreography should be executed with attention to straight legs, pointed toes, centered kicks, closed passés and lifted posture.

How will I know if my application was received?

Applying to DCC auditions is an online process. Audition candidates will receive a registration confirmation e-mail stating that your application was received. All audition communication is through e-mail only: DCCAuditions@DallasCowboys.net

Can my family and friends watch Final Auditions at the venue?

No. Final Auditions are closed to family, friends and the public.

What should I wear for auditions?

Candidates should wear:

· 2-piece attire: Dance or athletic bra top with hot pants or boy shorts. No biker shorts or bikini style bottoms.

· Skin toned non shimmer dance tights or sheer hosiery; our preferred vendor is Diva Hosiery.

· Slip-on jazz or cheer shoes – for example: Nike Flex or dance sneakers.

Where can I find audition attire?

Audition attire may be found in dance-wear stores or ordered online.

How should I wear my make-up?

Candidates are encouraged to wear what you look and feel your best in and what complements your natural beauty.

How should I wear my hair for the online audition?

Hair should be worn down and out of your face.

What are Prep Classes?

Audition Prep Classes are offered to provide optional preparation for the upcoming auditions. Prep Classes are taught by current and former DCC.

Should I audition if I cannot do the splits?

Due to the nature of DCC routines, the ability to do the splits is a required skill for DCC candidates to make the team.

Can you be a parent and a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader?

Yes.

May I try out if I have a tattoo?

Yes, but we ask that visible tattoos are appropriately covered for auditions, rehearsals, and appearances, including gameday.
