WHAT IS YOUR DANCING BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE? I started recreational dance at Expressions Dance & Music in College Station around 8 or 9 years old, soon joining their competitive company. I competed at competitions such as Showstoppers and Encore as well as attended dance conventions like Jump, Radix, and Tremaine. During that period, I was a member of the College Station High School Strutters drill team for my freshman and sophomore years, performing at both school pep rallies and Friday night football games, competing in drill team contests, and putting on an end-of-year Spring show. In my senior year of high school, I danced with a private studio DanceZone in the Houston area on their preprofessional team: Protege. During college at UT Austin, I was a four-year leading member of the Texas Pom Squad. Post-grad, for the 2023-2024 season I was a performer with the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO AUDITION FOR DCC? Following the pandemic as my college career was coming to an end, I felt pressure to start a career in consulting that I’d spent years studying and preparing for, however I realized that that wasn’t all that I wanted for myself. I dreaded my final days on my dance team, realizing that I wasn’t quite done performing. I remembered that I can always sit at a desk, however I won’t always be able to dance. With my window of opportunity to be a part of the best team in the industry, I took my chance at DCC. One unsuccessful audition attempt, one NFL dance team, an attempted business career, and months of training later, all of my growth and hard work has earned me a spot on a team that upholds my personal standards of excellence and allows me the platform to give back to a community I love so dearly.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO DREAMS OF BECOMING A DCC? Stay true to who you are and never lose complete sight of it. It’s ok to wonder what change could feel like, and you may find that change is truly what you need, but always return to your authentic self. If you do, you will always land where you belong. What’s meant for you will come.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DURING THIS FIRST YEAR AS A DCC? I look forward to learning and growing as I am launched into a new phase of life.

FINISH THIS STATEMENT: When I look back on my life….I see amazing memories and once-in-a-lifetime experiences that flood me with pride and gratitude accompanied by a trail of incredible people that have supported me along the way.
