WHAT INSPIRES YOU? There are many people in my life, family, friends, and teachers, that have inspired me. But my biggest inspiration would be my students back home. I work with special needs dancers in a program called, “Arms Wide Open” where dancers from 10 to 40 years old can pursue their passion in a non-judgmental environment. These dancers are the most positive, dedicated, and inclusive people I have ever met. They instantly put a smile on my face, make the bad days good, and encourage me to be fearless just like they are.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT? My family.
DO YOU HAVE ANY REGRETS? I do not have any regrets! I have learned so much through all my experiences and I still have so much to learn!
BIGGEST MOTIVATION? I am motivated by the idea to aim to impress two people. My eight-year-old self and my 80-year-old self. I am motivated to be a person that eight-year-old Megan would be inspired by and could look up to, but also be a person that 80-year-old Megan would be proud of my accomplishments and satisfied that I lived my life to the fullest. That mentality has pushed me out of my comfort zone and has made me a better person.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS (IF SO LIST NAMES)? I have two cats back in California, named Joey and Chloe! (They’re brother and sister!)
BEACH OR MOUNTAIN VACATION? Beach!
DESCRIBE A PERFECT DAY IN YOUR LIFE: A perfect day would start with a workout in the morning, a picnic on the beach, a casual dinner with my best friends and family, watching the sunset by the water, and then ending the day with a fun game night and laughing until my stomach hurts.
HOW DO OTHERS DESCRIBE YOU? Happy, kind, motivated, theatrical and goofy.
DO YOU HAVE ANY HIDDEN TALENTS? I can recite every line of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas“ and even do some Grinch impressions LOL.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS? I have two older brothers. Shout out Danny and Sean!
NAME 5 GUESTS AT YOUR DINNER PARTY: Carrie Underwood, Derek Hough, Meryl Streep, Jonathan Van Ness, and Shawn Johnson.
WHAT IS THE THEME SONG OF YOUR LIFE? “Man! I Feel Like a Woman“ by Shania Twain.
WHAT IS YOUR DANCING BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE? I began dancing at the age of three and I started competing in dance at the age of eight years old. I’ve trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theatre. In high school, I was a leader of my dance program my junior and senior year and I also competed with my school’s pom team. In college, I was the captain of the SDSU Dance Team my junior and senior year, and now, I am so proud to call myself a DCC!
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO AUDITION FOR DCC? I knew that I was not ready to give up on my dancing career after college and if I was going to continue to dance, I had to go big! The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are world class, and they are an integral part of the Cowboys organization. What an opportunity to take a leap of faith and see how far I could go!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF DCC? I love the sisterhood that comes from this team! It is so amazing to be surrounded by some of the most kind, supportive, and TALENTED girls in the country. Coming all the way from California and leaving family and friends, it is such a gift to have a group of women to be my home away from home!
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Besides earning a spot on this team, it would be making history for SDSU and winning the university’s first national championship title at college dance team nationals in the D1A Hip-Hop category.
IN 10 YEARS FROM NOW I WILL … Be living a healthy and happy lifestyle, hopefully have started my own family, and have a cute dog!
