DCC Alumni Spotlight – Adrianna Butler Christian
Adrianna was not your typical Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. She grew up in buns and tutus in the world of ballet, and still to this day is referred to as “The Ballerina”. Her journey began while furthering her education at Midwestern State University, studying communications with a ballet scholarship. While casually flipping through her TV she noticed an ad for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders auditions. So what did she do? She went for it and thought to herself, “I doubt I’ll make it, but it was something out of my comfort zone and great audition experience”. Adrianna showed up to prelims in a faded black leotard. Immediately realized she was not as done up or as sparkly as the rest of the contestants. She questioned what shoes to wear or bring and only called to tell her mom she was auditioning on her drive over to Texas Stadium. One by one she continued to advance to the next round. Once she made it to the final round she borrowed a tutu for her solo from the local studio where she was also a dance instructor. Right before the final round she got a call from a prestigious dance company offering her a dance contract. She decided to go all in on her DCC journey and at the time had no clue her life was about to change forever.
Adrianna made the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in 2002 and cheered for three years, and later as an All-Star for two years. She was a second group leader and attended annual calendar shoots. She knew these were experiences of a lifetime! There was also hard work. Adrianna would leave each rehearsals and open her notebook to write each dance step, along with sketched pictures to remember every sequence in each dance routine. One of her favorite memories was dancing with Destiny’s Child for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Thanksgiving half-time show. There was a marching band, guest dancers, and her DCC sisters creating amazing performance energy. During one of the rehearsals leading up to the game, and while the rest of the cheerleaders where taking a water break, starstruck Adrianna received a compliment from Beyonce about how pretty her eyes were.
During her DCC journey, Adrianna began working for Palm Beach Tan. Now going on 19 years, she is still with the company as a product manager and technician developing and testing product. Adrianna also went on to work with The Campbell Agency. She appeared in a Rooms To Go commercial with Cindy Crawford, on the Food Network with Erin Sanchez, and many other national commercials. Looking back on her time as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, she left with no regrets, best friends and memories that will last a lifetime!
