DCC Alumni Spotlight – Kathryn Rodriguez – Lee
Growing up in a military family, Kathy Rodriguez found herself moving very often. She lived all over the country and eventually settled in Texas. After graduating high school, Kathy’s mother told her she should audition for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She had been singing and dancing since a young age, and was a natural performer. I had the pleasure to sit down and interview Kathy on FaceTime. We had a wonderful time getting to know each other and sharing how the organization has impacted our lives.
Performing was her passion and she used that to pursue many goals in her life! Reminiscing on her time in training camp, she shared that it was a tough 6 weeks, but it helped her learn so many lessons she would later need in life to be successful. Kathy cheered for 1 season with the Cowboys in 1990, where Texas Stadium became her new home. She enjoyed every part about representing the Dallas Cowboys organization. Some of her favorite, cherished events were visiting the Veterans Hospital and Children’s Hospitals at Christmas time. She said those were so memorable, and she loved bringing smiles to other people’s faces.
After one amazing year, Kathy decided that she wanted to accomplish other goals in the entertainment industry. She went on to spend a few years modeling and performing on stage. She continues to keep in contact with former teammates and DCC sisters from different squads. As I wrapped up our interview, Kathy closed by sharing how her time as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader taught her to never give up and always push herself. The discipline alone prepared her to do so much more in the future!
