DCC Alumni Spotlight – Traci Curb Tipping

DCC Alumni Spotlight – Traci Curb Tipping

I had the most wonderful pleasure and honor of interviewing DCC alumni, Traci Tipping who loved her experience with the Cowboys. It was obvious that her heart and soul was put into her time as a member of the squad, and will forever be one of her most cherished memories. She embodies every quality about a DCC: strength, confidence, inner and outer beauty, and a heart of gold leaving everyone she encounters feeling inspired and loved.

Traci was raised in Killeen, TX. She was introduced to dance at just 3 years old, and a love for dance continued on as she participated from dance competitions to varsity drill team in high school. It wasn’t until when she went to college at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX where she focused on her studies and graduated with a degree in business. Shortly after, she realized how much she missed dance and on a whim her mom proposed the idea of auditioning for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. And thank goodness that whim led to this beauty earning her stars and white boots in 2004.

She had one spectacular year cheering on the Dallas Cowboys that brought along many special moments. Her favorite moment, that every DCC can agree on is the most special, is waiting in the tunnel before pregame begins. She mentioned how hearing the rumble of the fans and looking out to the stands waiting to see them dance their hearts out for the team they loved. Traci explained how “There was nothing more magical than chasing down the field of Texas Stadium.” If she could, she would relive this moment every day.  As a DCC, she loved making her family proud. Their support and love kept her motivated throughout the time she was cheering. That love she received continues down to her two kids today.

Traci still has a passion for dance, and is now working as a drill team director in her hometown.  Her daughter, Grace, is 13 and also shares the same love for dance. Hopefully, one day we will see her dancing in a pair of white Lucchese boots, putting her in the special category of being a “legacy”.

Traci has some special word for those who have the dream of being a part of this sisterhood; “know that you are special and show them that you have what it takes to be a DCC, dance your heart out, and remember to make eye contact.”  She adds to the current DCC “To those on the 2020 and future squads, know that you are there for a reason, you are unique, you are important, hold on to the memories, and have the time of your life.”
